Roy Hammond, while at work for the Norwood Electric Light Co., at Norwood a week ago, fell from a pole a distance of over thirty feet, striking his back. He was picked up and hurried to his home and medical aid summoned. On examination there were found no broken bones, and it is now thought he will be out again in a week or ten days. Mr. Hammond does not really know what caused his fall, but it is believed his safety strap unhooked or what it was fastened to gave way.
From the July 6, 1921 Potsdam Courier & Freeman:
Norwood, July 6-The Norwood Electric Light and Power company is getting material in readiness for further improvement of its plant at Yaleville. The present power house is to be enlarged and two new 56-inch Lafell turbines installed. A new three-bearing, 300 watt generator arrived Saturday and will be installed as soon as possible. With the addition of this new generator and the installation of the two new turbines the capacity of the plant will be practically doubled, besides insuring service in case of accident to one of the units. Dr. S.P. Phelps, president of the company, said Saturday that they were also making preparations to rebuild that half of the dam on their side of the river, and expected that work would be commenced early in the coming month. The dam will be constructed of concrete and steel and will replace the present wooden structure.
